a bertino style vacation

well, we have made it to the cabins in minnesota. we left home monday and drove to madison wisconsin to stay the night with my sister and family. we intended to be there for 1 night, however, our luck never fails us, and dan ended up in the hospital in madison monday night into tuesday. he became extremely sick. dr thought it was his gall bladder, but those tests were fine. we stayed another night in madison, then left wed to travel the next 8 hours to lutsen. we are here and the weather is wonderful. I can hear the waves crashing in the backyard. dan still feels pretty bad but tries to do as much as he can. he's been napping lots and going to bed early, but isn't that what vacations for anyways? we have another week and a half left! the dog and cole are great!

Pray For Safe Travels

We are off on our family vacation with the Hudsons. We are driving to Madison Wi, first to visit my sister and neices and brother in law who I havent seen since March! We are staying one night, then its the rest of the way up to Lutsen Minnesota. We have about 15 hours to get there total! Please think and pray safe thoughts! I will update when I can!

Happy Fathers Day

Since Dan had to work on Fathers Day this year, we celebrated with him and his dad on Saturday night, then took a family trip to the firehouse on Sunday. Cole enjoyed sitting on the deck on Saturday night with Dad, and of course driving the fire truck is always a thrill for him!

I am so thankful to have Dan as a husband. I couldnt imagine a better dad for Cole. He stays home with him while I work when hes off duty, and Cole has a new story everyday! Cole is lucky to have a dad he can spend so much time with! He was very proud of his daddy today! Dans dad was also very proud of him today as well!

Though my dad is not around any longer physically, I know he was here in spirit today! What an amazing man! All of us who knew him were very lucky to have had the opportunity to know such a great and funny man!

Better Late Than Never

Well, Cole turned 3 last month, and I am just now getting around to having his photos taken. Well, actually, I wanted to have a pic of he and I done for Dan for fathers day, but I couldnt get ready in time, so I just had one done for dan of just cole. Then of course....they were all so stinkin cute, that idea went to hell, and I just made it into his 3 year photos! He loves the studio so much. When it was over, he told the lady, " Im not done yet." Here are a few. I will email the rest later!

No Sickness On Vacation

So of course just in the nick of time...I come down with a sinus infection and an ear infection and Cole breaks out in fever and sinus infection! This again....is how we roll! We leave Monday fro our annual 2 week trip with the Hudsons, and we all need to be well!

Slip N Slide Time

Cole has been asking for a slip n slide, so naturally I bought him one. He wasnt quite sure what to do because he has never used one before. I set it all up and he said, "Mommy show you." So I decide to be the outgoing mom and demonstrate the slip n slide. Before I go to slide I contemplate how to go about this. Right before I go to slide I look down and see that the "rules" are not to use by people over 5ft and 110 pounds! Ha! So I take my diving start and my 110plus self slides on my belly, but actually didnt slide, just stopped like a whale! NICE! Anyways, Cole must have thought it looked safe because it was all he needed to see!

Our Life!

After we went to Diego Live on Saturday, we were coming home in yet ANOTHER storm this week, and all of a sudden my wipers criss crossed and got stuck! I am sure you can hear Dans words now! I busted out laughing and saide it looked like they were having a thumb war! We couldnt see anything, but we were laughing so hard I thought I was going to pee on myself. You see, I think it is only really funny because thats how things go in "The Bertino World." So as we drove down the road with crossed windshield wipers and one headlight, we could only laugh. My car is such a piece of crap, that even when we went to change the headlight the next day, the plug on the light is corroded! AGain, our luck! And as most of you know, my mothers day GPS system was stolen the day before! Unfotunately on a teacher and fire fighter salary, I have to keep driving my one headlight, one wiper crap box! But atleast I can laugh about it right?

Go Diego Go Live!

Dan thought Cole would enjoy going to see Go Diego Live at the FOx Theatre, so he cought us tickets a while back. OF course, Cole woke up witha fever yesterday. It was low grade, so we gave him some Tylenol, filled up the pool and played in the water in the afternoon. He was very excited still to go see Diego and the Bobo's! We woke him up from his nap yesterday evening to get ready for Diego nad he had 102.8 fever! We gave him the choice and he said he still wanted to go. So we decided it would be a good idea to infect all the children at the theatre and took him. As you can see from teh pics, he doesnt even look like himself! He did enjoy the show. HEs not a corny kid, so he doesnt participate in the crowd participation of "doing the congo" and scratching in the air like baby Jaguar, but, none the less he liked sitting back and enjoying the show!
