Daddy and Cole at Gymnastics

Saturdays Coles gymnastics had parent participation day. Thank goodness Dan was off, so he could do it with Cole. I can hardly walk anymore it feels like! All I had in me was the cha-cha slide, then Dan took over. IT was hysterical! Dan we all know is a big kid anyway, so he enjoyed it and gave lots of people reason to laugh! They started with warm ups, then went to vault. Tehy practiced using the springboard and doing forward rolls, then jumping from the spring board to the vault either using hands to knee, or hands to feet. Cole chose hands to knee, Dan didnt listen well and bipassed hands all together jumping from the board to a standing position. Next was trampoline. Of course thats always a hit. He and cole practiced straddler jumps, tuck jumps and seat drops. Next was the tumble tramp into the pit...where he sunk like quicksand! Then cartwheels on the floor, followed by climbing the rope and dropping into the pit! Both boys had a great time and all the spectators got some good laughs!

Messy Play

Here in Missouri, maybe everywhere, we have aprogram called Parents as Teachers. It is a wonderful program the school district offers for free. They come to your home 4 times a year starting at birth, to screen your child, play games and teach you academic things you can be doing with your child at certain ages. They also look for red flags such as speech and developmental delays. Aside from that, they offer several support meetings for behavior, parenting etc, all year. They also have several fun sessions that you can bring your child to. Cole was super excited for Messy Play. They had 4 rooms set up at a school in the district and the kids could do all kinds of sensory things that were mesy! It was great becuase it wasnt a mess I had to clean!
He painted his hand and made a turkey, played with homemade pumpkin playdough, gak, instant snow, potato flakes, bubbles, shaving cream etc. It was a great night and he had a blast!

Emmy's First Facial Debut!

Not really! SOme girlfriends, my mother in law and sister in law all went to a Baby Expo last weekend. We really only wanted the sawg bad for being one of the first 50 guests, and were so mad when they gave more than one per mom so we didnt get them by like 10 people. They were giving one to mom and one to dad...needless to say we were ready to take some people out and steal their bags! There were some cute booths there, but our favorite was that you could pay 10.00 for a 3d ultrasound. My dr. office does not do them so I was so excited! There were 2 of us pregnant that did it, and yes 6 of us piled in the room to watch! I had texted Dan to tell him I was going to have one and he was a tad bummed that I would get to see what she looked like in 3d and he wouldnt. Well, she must really be a daddys girl already because she hid behind both hands and knees tucked to her chin. I was 32 weeks so really she had nowhere to move to. SHe has awful cute hands and knees though! She did at one point pull on arm down so expose her upper cheek and brow.
Tara went next and is 18 weeks. She didnt know what she was having and decided not to find out since ROss wasnt there. Hoewever, we all started making guesses and she couldnt stand it, so she found out its a girl!

Captain Princess Update

If you tilt your head right you can see her precious face.

Yesterday COle and I went to the dr. to see how Emmy is doing! She now weighs 3.12 pounds and is head down! She has no hair! I expect a bald baby again since Cole was. IT was fun to see her face this month because she had put some weight on! The dr. says she will probably be Coles size or a tad smaller. I hit my 20lb mark yesterday! It really hit home that time is running out when she said, "I will see you in 2 weeks." SO I go back in 2 weeks and then every week after that for the non stress tests and ultrasounds each week. Since I have high blood pressure outside of being pregnant I take medication which can cause smaller birth weight and lessened fluid. THey will put a belt on that monitors how many movements the baby has in a certain period of time. They will also monitor her kidneys due to my blood pressure. Trust me, she has no less movements! My blood pressure has been 1000 times better with her than Cole! Im shooting for no bed rest this time!9 weeks to go!

The construction Begins!

This week was so crazy around our house! We ended up having more projecys thatn expected going at once! We had to (not by coice) have Dan and a friend install two retaining walls in the backyards because over the years the water has rushed at the back of our house and caused leaking in the atrium. It was 12 hour day for the first wall. Teh second day they worked, they removed the siding where it had been leaking to discover all of the wood and drywall and insulation had molded and rotted out! Which left a childsized hole in the playroom downstairs! SO the third 12 hour work day began and they added the second wall and a new rock bed. IT will be great come spring when we can plant in it! (after mindy tells me what to do)
Also, after much bugging and beggin dan, construction began on EMmys room. That room was our office/firefighter stuff room. So then we had to disassemble the computer desk, throw it out, move an armoir into the atrium and put the computer down there.
In the meantime, Dan decided Emmys room would look great with picture moulding under the chairrail. So he began cutting and nailing and it now has picture moulding, and Dan was right, it will be super cute! So Thurs night we began priming the bottom half of her room. Cole was so excited to help! IT really helped him to understand that Emmy is coming and staying in this room we are making her. ALthough he has shown absolutely no signs of anxiety thus far.
The cutest thing he said while painting was, "mom, this is emmys room right?" I said, "yes it is." "mom, do some people name their kids emmy without captain in front?" Dan and I laughed and I said "yes." Then he says, "but not us mom. We named her captain princess emmy."
I will add updates of her room as it progresses!

Halloweens Past!

I wanted to look back over the last 4 years at Halloween. You can see what I mean when I say he is now old enough to choose his own costume! Lord knows what he will pick next year! Atleast I will have Emmy to torture! ha! At 5 months he was a turtle (I cant find it right now0, then at 1 he was a peacock, at 2 he was a lion, at 3 he was a happy skeleton and at 4 a purple phantom!

Halloween Night!

Well, if you read my blog recently you will know how excited Cole is for Halloween! It was finally here! Let me tell you his costume was a far cry from the peacock when he was 2! Now that he has his own personality and chooses his own costumes, it makes it much different! This year you couldnt even see his precious face! But who cares right? It is what he wanted to be! Although after 6 houses, the mask came off! This was the first year he also said, "Mom, I can go to the door by myself because I am not scared." Off he went, and used his best manners! He had a blast! Got lots of candy, but doesnt eat candy so I guess Emmy will get it! ha! The best was this one house was giving full size candy bars. They had a huge assortment to offer. The lady said, "We have snickers, reeces, hersheys and butterfingers." Cole says, "I will take the butter please." You have to know Cole to know he eats butter out of the tub, and he thought she was getting ready to give him some!

Halloweens Parties Rock!

Cole had been counting down the days until Logans Halloween party! He was so excited, and Isaak, Estella and Tessa joined us this year too! He only kept his mask on for pictures and flung it off and was off to be a "boy". The boys played so well, most of the time as Star Wars characters! We had a great time and Cole slept until 10 Saturday morning which was even better!THanks Svetlana for having us!

Pumpkin Carving Time

Cole gets so excited to get our pumpkins each year, but has yet to EVER help! He has some "sensory issues" about putting his hands in there! So each year he tells us what to carve and just oves sitting and watching. THis year he put his hand on mine so he could help carve the pumpkin. Oneof our pumpkins was hard as a rock and you couldnt even get a knife through it so we only ended up with 2 carved! After we carved pumpkins and baked the seeds, Cole wanted to make sugar cookies with his new cookie halloween press. He enjoyed that a little more I think!

Off To See The Troll

Last weekend my mom came out and we took Cole to the pumpkin patch. He really only likes this pumpkin patch because there is a scary troll that sits at the bridge and makes bubbles in the creek. Then he hands you candy as you cross. It was a cold, drizzly day, but between the last 2 weeks of total rain, we wanted to get out of the house. He had fun climbing on the hay pyramid and going through the corn maze. Last we went to cross the trolls bridge. He still has no idea how the troll makes the water bubble as he crosses, and still jumps each time it does!
