Citygarden

I had seen some pictures a friend posted of this great fountain/sculpture/garden park. I knew that Cole would love it so some friends from my old work (and a few from my new) packed up the kids and coolers and headed to the city to play. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day! It was 83 degrees and sunny! The kids played for about 3 hours! The citygarden has lots of fountains to run through, wade pools to go in and sculptures to climb on! Cole loved running through the fountains! Emmy loved this tiny incline that had a tiny amount of water flowing for her to lay on her belly and splash in!It is a beautiful place in the middle of a bustling city!

Six Months! What?

I cannot believe that half a year has passed since I delivered sweet baby Emmy. She has been the biggest blessing to our family, and it seems unreal that we have enjoyed her this long already! We say that Emmy is being kind to us now because she was a HARD baby the first 6 weeks. Now people tell us "that she has a permanent smile." Truly, she really is always happy unless something is wrong like a diaper change, owie, hungry or tired. She is just a sweet as pie!
Here are some 6 month updates.
She is now eating baby food and loves it! I have been making her baby food so far since I am off of work. It is actually just as easy to make and I enjoy it. She will be our eater! Right now squash and green beans are her favorite. She loves bananas too! She is taking both breastmilk and formula. I took a weekend trip to Nashville for 3 days, and although I pumped, something changed so I am able to nurse every other feeding now. She doesnt care either way. Another part of her easy going personality!
She can get to whatever she wants now by pulling herself in an army crawl manner and rolling. She is obsessed with shoes, so that is usually her mission to get to!
SHe just discovered Hank and loves to roll to him and play with his paws.
She SQUEALS very loud in excitement! Her favorite is the jumperoo right now!
I put her 6 month sticker on her butt because we usually see her from behind now that she is pretty mobile!

A Trip To The Arch

On Monday we took Cole and Emmy to the Arch for the first time. Cole was so excited. He couldnt believe how tall it was. We had to wait a while to go up, so we looked at the museum they have there. We took the tiny pod to the top and Cole hopped from window to window looking at everything. To my own surprise I only had a short moment of sheer panic with being "trapped" in a spot, but overcame it enough to enjoy it with them. Emmy slept from the time we got in the pod to go up, until we exited to come out!

A Day On Delmar

Today we met some old friends at a pizza place called Pi in the loop. It was super awesome gourmet type pizza. For desert we went to Jilly Cupcake Bar and Cafe. These cupcakes are massive and come in several different center filled flavors. I chose the turtle cheesecake. Cole chose some vanilla pink and green colored one that had a cream filling. They were insanely good and huge! It was a wonderful afternoon!

Kool Aid, Kool Aid Anyone?

A few weeks ago, Cole and I saw some children having a lemonade stand. COle was very interested in why they were selling lemonade. A few days later while at Target, Cole asked me to buy him a new Ben 10 toy. I explained like always that we cannot just buy a toy everytime we come to Target. I told him he would need to buy his own toy. He said he could have a Lemonade stand to get money like those girls.
He asked me everyday for 2 weeks if he could. I kept saying other excuses for why we couldnt do it that day. My reason for putting it off was my fear of his spirit being broken by rude people that didnt have 3o seconds to stop and make a childs day! COle picked out red Kool Aid to sell. So Friday we got it all set up. He took his position. It was blazing hot and he waved at every car that came buy. When I came out and saw him sitting all alone with his little stand, I about lost it! He looked so damn cute! The first person that stopped asked "how much?" His response was "seven." hah! A neighbor drove by and asked what he was selling and he said, "Limeade." What? It was a great experience and he raised 26.oo. HE was so proud to go to Target the next morning and buy his new toys!

Back To The Garden

Last week, I took Cole back to the Botanical Gardens. THis time he brought his friend Josh with us. Cole, Josh and Emmy were crammed in their car seats in the back of my car like sardines! The boys had a great time playing together. Cole discovered the tree stump building blocks this time and really enjoyed building with them. Josh really liked going into the tree houses. It wasnt too hot that day so we had a great time!

Two In the Bed

Today Emmy was in her crib, supposed to be sleeping and wasn't. I was trying to get ready so we could go see Toy Story 3, so I asked Cole to go and talk to her in her bed. Cole decided he needed to be IN her bed too! Emmy thought it was great! Cole stayed in there for about 20 minutes with her, along with his stuffed animals. She was laughing hysterically at him. I got some cute video of that. He asked me if he could please sleep with her at bedtime! So sweet. Needless to say, when I put her down for bedtime, she was not as happy without him!

Water Time!

On Tuesday, the hottest day of the year, I decided to take Cole to aquaport to swim. We invited Gigi and Aunt Stace along, and Heather and Isaak joined us too! We had such a good time! There were slides that were the perfect size for the boys. They even tried some that were a little bigger. Cole could not get enough of that one until he was going to go down for like the 20th time and a new life guard took post. He told I couldnt catch cole at the bottom. He had to go into the water alone before I could grab him. Mind you, they are not aloud to wear any flotation devices on the slide. I kindly told the life guard, "Well, unless you want to save a drowning child today, I am going to catch him." Needless to say, that was our last time on that slide! We spent lots of time in the laze river too! We had a wonderful day!

Hanks New Friend

THis morning, Emmy was rolling all over the carpet. When she finally got still, Hank laid next to her. Then he rested his head on her her arm. Then her stomach. Then she began smiling and trying to grab his face. He started licking her and she loved it! It is these moments with my kids that makes me keep the big oaf!

Skate or Die!

Remember that old childhood slogan? ha! Today we wanted to do something as a family because Dan goes back to work tomorrow. With Emmy being so young, we can't have her in 100 degree heat. By the time Dan got back from the doctor, and I got out of my pajamas, it was early afternoon. So I decided we should go roller skating! Cole had never been before, and I have not roller skated since my friday nights in elementary school! Dan has a bum knee so he cant skate, so he was on Emmy patrol. Although when I stood up on my skates and wobbled he said "oh god, I should have just done it!" haha! Cole doenst like to fail at anything so I was worried he might not like it. But, they had these little "walkers make of pvc pipes that he could skate around to help him. By the end he was doing turns with it! ha! The DJ was taking requests, just like old times! =) He requested Pink "So What", Miley Cirus "party in the usa" and rascal flatts life is a highway." He was pretty tired after about 45 minutes because he was basically running behind the damn walker! We played a few games and headed home. It was a great day!

Happy Fathers Day

We had a wonderful Fathers Day, and hope you did too! We started the afternoon at my sister in laws boyfriends house. He has a fabulous yard and pool for the kids, so of course Cole enjoyed that! Emmy couldnt tolerate the heat for long, but took some good pics with gigi and papa in the meantime! (and i just realized I got none of the kids with dan!) We stayed for an hour or so and then headed to The Cashios or a crawfish boil! Whoa daddy was it good! Mike is from New Orleans and is an amazing chef!He had the crawfish fed ex'd live so they were fresh! He is also the GM of a steakhouse here in St. Louis, so he actually had his head chef come and cook the food, then help devour the crawfish! 40lbs of it! The kids had a great time playing with Estella, and Dans family and my mom joined us too! It was a great fathers day, and thanks to Dave and the Cashios for having us over!
