4 months

Where is the time going....really? I cannot believe she is 4 months! This week last year we found out unexpectedly that we were going to have her! You know that whole story....try for 2 years, quit trying and come to peace with just one child, book a trip and get pregnant with Emmy!
TOday I took her for her 4 month checkup! She is 12.6 pounds (30th percentile, we dropped from 50%), and 24 inches long...or was 22? I will have to double check...whatever it was it was under 50% too! He wasnt too concerned that she didnt steadily gain weight, she might have reflux. She has really been spitting up lately, about 4 bibs a day! IF her weight doesnt increase more at the next checkup she might needs meds, but since we got the green light for food today, it will probably help! With cole, the day he said I could start rice, I ran to the store and did it that night! With emmy, I am not rushing anything! I didnt know how fast it would go with cole! So this time, Im slowing things down! I will do it this weekend! I just cannot believe after all of this wait for her, she can now have food!
Dr. Meyers and the nurse got a huge kick out of her. She was a total ham! Smiling at them and cooing! She is really a happy baby, until you put her in her carseat!
Since she is rolling both ways all over the place, he told me I need to take her sleep positioner out of her bed. He said they see SIDS cases where the kids roll over, then suffocate with their face smashed in the side bump of the postioner. Its been hard tonight because she sleeps on her side in the positioner with her blanket tucked under so she cant get the blanket on her face. Since I took the positioner out, I had to take the blanket out too so she didnt pull it over her face. She has always put herself to sleep at night so that went well tonight. But you could tell she wasnt sure why she had so much freedom in there. I checked 5 minutes later and she was at the opposite end of the crib! Im a nervous wreck tonight about her being so free in the crib!
Emmy still nurses every 3 hours at night! He said she is rotten and doesnt need to eat that often at night! He said she is just using me as a pacifier and that at 4 months she should go about 6 hours before eating at night. So I am supposed to just pat her and let her go back to sleep with out nursing. IM not tackling that tonight..the sleep postioner is enough!
Here are her 4 month sticker pics!

He's in Charge

Lately Cole has really been into "whos in charge." When I put her on the floor and go tot he kitchen he will tell me "its ok mom, Im in charge of her." He is so helpful with Emmy for Dan and I. He will get things you need if you ask him. He LOVES playing with her, (most of the time too rough) but I love that he wants to play. Today we put her in her bumbo with a few toys on her tray, and he did not think she had enough to play with. My mom and I kept telling him it was enough and then we finally gave up. This was the end result....

Rockin and Rollin

Emmy is all of the place rolling, thought I would post a video of it!

On My Tummy, Now What?

Emmy rolled over over from tummy to back on Easter, and then kind of quit. But she did discover a few weeks how to roll from back to tummy. She get there and then most of the time gets mad because she doesn't know what to do next. Occasionally she has enough momentum to roll back over, but most of the time she just hollers. Here are a few pics of her happy during tummy time!

A New Way To See The World

Emmy just hates when you try to make her lay down, or hold her in the semi cradle position. From like 4 weeks old she has only wanted to be held up under her arms so she can stand and look around. Ok, so she might be a little nosy! FInally at 13 weeks we decided she had enough head control to go in the saucer! She loves it. She just stands and looks around and reaches out to all of the toys! I cannot believe she is this big already. It is going way too fast!

Trivia Dummies!

FOr the 3rd year, we have participated in Blake Smiths CF trivia night. We have the best time, and its the one thing we try to do each year to help our friends with medical bills etc. Blake was diagnosed before he was 2 with Cystic Fibrosis. He had one of his hardest years this year, but is doing great right now!
We have had the same team the last 2 years. We have so much fun hanging out, trying to win raffles and attempting to answer trivia questions. This year we were doing to badly we ended up with the black loser balloons on our table at one point!
This year Carrie (the m.c) mentioned a beer pyramid, so we focused our attention on that since we were losing so bad! There was a group of fun people sitting behind us who continuously tried to sabotage our pyramid, so we spent much time rebuilding! Funny how they waited until our husbands were gone to pick on us! lol! Anyways, we had a blast for the 3rd year in a row!

Two In The Tub

Tonight I decided to move Emmy from her newborn tub into the infant bath seat. She LOVES sitting and does a pretty good job in her bumbo or my lap, so I thought she would like it. I had to put her sponge anti slider behind her to fill in some space to keep her from sliding. Cole ran in to see her and was so proud. He asked if he could get in to since she was in that seat! It was too cute! He talked to her and she was mesmerized! You could tell she wasnt quite sure what to think! Cole had a great time though, and it was nice to do both at one time instead of 2 separate baths!

Fun For Fives

On Monday evening Parents As Teachers put on "Fun For Fives" at my school. It is for incoming Kindergartners. They had 3 groups of kids with different activities. First they all got to play on the playground. Next they went into the gym and picked cards with a song in it that they would all sing. After that we went on a scavenger hunt to find different things in the school, and last a story called the Kissing Hand in the library. It is no surprise that Cole is a TOTAL mommy and daddy's boy. He was very nervous on the way there, but with reassurance from us at each activity, he did great! I told Dan we should have named him Chester like the raccoon in the story since he is very nervous about going to school and would rather stay home with his mom and dad! I cannot believe he will be in Kindergarten next year. It makes me so sad. I am not to my excited point yet...it seems like time has gone to quickly and I have savored every moment so far! Hes my baby!

When You Are Not Looking

In the last post I told you how Emmy had rolled over and we all missed it! Sunday she was trying to roll over so she could get to Cole. She has figured out that if she puts her arms straight out, it will help! She couldnt quite get it, but looked really cute trying!

Happy Birthday Aunt Stace!

We had a great time celebrating my sister in laws birthday this week! Cole loves when we have "birthday parties!" We enjoyed nice barbeque with the family as always! Hopefully Stace will enjoy her last year in her 20's!

Happy Easter

For Easter my mom and I took my kids and drove to Madison Wi, to spend Easter with my sister and her family. My brother in laws sister also joined us! Dan had to work Good Friday and Easter Sunday so I thought it would be a good time for us to go! Cole enjoyed as always playing with his cousins! Emmy enjoyed getting lots of attention from Aunt Mooney! On Easter morning my nieces woke us up entirely too early to hunt Easter Eggs, so we were pooped the rest of the day! It was such a nice trip though because we did NOTHING but sit, talk and relax! The kids dyed easter eggs and made cupcakes and played all day!

3 Months!

Im behind! On March 29th, Emmy celebrated her 3 month birthday! She has changed so much this month! She of course found her voice and her hand so most photos include her hand in her mouth! SHe is so happy! SHe loves to lay and talk and squeal. Usually if you put her down and go do something, when you come back she will be in a totally different spot from pushing with her legs! On Easter she rolled from tummy to back and yesterday she rolled back to tummy. We missed the back to tummy and when we came back in the living room she was on her tummy! SO i got that photo! She also has started sitting in her bumbo seat with toys on the tray. She just started grabbing and touching things that she likes!
